Tapirs and Tigers and Toucans, oh my!

After the Garifuna Settlement Day festivities, we headed to the Belize Zoo.  All the animals are native animals of Belize.  The safety regulations are much different than in the States, so we were able to get REALLY close to most of the animals!  We even touched a few!  I got some great pictures!

The entrance to the zoo!

                Decorated picnic area :)

Cute little monkey in the tree...there was no cage or fence separating us!
our favorite animal- the tapir!

 petting the tapir <3

A Belizean crocodile!

I think this was called an ocelot...

The brilliant colors of the toucan's bill were unbelievable!
This lizard was not a zoo animal....it was just
running around loose!  Ew!

Howler monkey

                                 Javelinas

We watched the zoo worker feed the otter some raw chicken

              The puma was beautiful
This parrot said "Hello"

I couldn't believe how bright and beautiful his colors were!
Another critter running loose at the zoo...this massive iguana!

 We loved watching the Jaguar!

Pretty flower :)

Such a fun time at the zoo!
